interesting evening

we had an interesting evening in Charlotte! this photo is of the top half of one of our trees from the front yard. during a freak wind/thunderstorm, it came down, crashing into the power lines across the street, knocking out power to the entire neighborhood for half the night.

we, however, praised the Lord... had it fallen the other way, it would have landed in the house, very close to (if not exactly) where Jamie was sitting with Stella. had it broken any further down, it likely would have smashed the neighbor's car in. we were actually really lucky.

unfortunately, another MASSIVE tree fell onto one of Jamie's houses that he is building and was just about ready to put on the market, too. it has significant damage. he and Tim spent about 5 hours last night trying to cut away chunks of it to get it off their & the neighbor's roofs. but again, we are thankful, because had it fallen at another angle, it easily could have destroyed the house. which, obviously would have been really bad.
